Surface Medical to be recognized as the Prairies Winner of the 2016 Startup Canada Award for Global Entrepreneurship

September 6th 2016 - Surface Medical Inc. (“Surface Medical”) was recognized by Startup Canada as the Prairies Winner of the Startup Canada Award for Global Entrepreneurship. The company will be presented with the award in Edmonton, Alberta during a red carpet event on October 25th.

“On behalf of the entire team at Surface Medical, we would like to thank Startup Canada for this recognition,” said Tony Abboud, Vice President of Business Development at Surface Medical. “Our company has had a transformative year with our CleanPatch® product line, which has included a multinational partnership and global expansion into new healthcare markets. We are honoured to be included among the best and brightest entrepreneurial organizations in Canada, and look forward to meeting many of them in Edmonton next month”.

“Startup Canada Award winners and runners-up are architects of a better future for Canada for entrepreneurs,” said Victoria Lennox, CEO of Startup Canada. “As champions of the entrepreneurship movement, they deserve to be celebrated to the highest degree. Thank you and congratulations to all nominees and winners for elevating the efforts, ambitions, and standards of success for the entrepreneurship community across Canada.”

The Startup Canada Awards can be likened to the Oscars for the Canadian entrepreneurship community - celebrating and recognizing the individuals, communities and institutions that have demonstrated innovation, excellence, outstanding achievement and impact in advancing Canadian entrepreneurship.

As a regional winner, Surface Medical will be pushed forward to the National Adjudication Committee and the national winners will be celebrated at the Startup Canada Awards Grand Finale in Toronto on Nov. 29.
